It's sad, but even the best things should face an end eventually - and The Elder Scrolls: Total War is undoubtedly among the best ones. Unfortunately, the 2.0 version of the mod might be the very last for the project. The upcoming update adds Reachmen, Tsaesci, and the Clockwork City Army as playable factions, but you need to complete a few quests to actually get them under your control.
The recent update, however, is focused mostly on mercenary armies. You might recognize a lot of units given you are a devoted The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind fan and you can indeed lead the army of Great House Hlaalu into battle for instance. It utilizes Medieval 2: Total War as its basic foundation, but all the vast variety of custom factions, units, and cities (including the strategic map of course) is specifically created in order to deliver the feeling of epic fantasy battlefield within the boundaries of Tamriel empire. As one who is a member of the Unofficial Patch team I can tell you that the mod doesnt fix. Full credit to the creators, I only dont link to avoid upsetting the mods. So I started a new game to show off a great mod. The mod's journey started a few years ago, and the project has gone a long road since. There seemed to be a general interest after a response to a post yesterday.
The Elder Scrolls: Total War is actually going to receive an update that'll bring its version up to 2.0 which is obviously a huge accomplishment for a voluntary work of loyal fans. The highly talented team behind The Elder Scrolls: Total War mod has been working on the project since 2014, and the authors still stick to their beloved modification.
